3. FAQs

1. What is Gradebook?

Gradebook is the grade management module for you to maintain marks and grades of students in CUSIS. It is available to you when the class is assigned to you.

2. What is Grade Roster?

Grade Roster is the grade records for Exam Panel to review and approve. Normally it will be released to teaching staff for grade submission before exam period. When you click the “Submit for Approval” button in Gradebook, the final grades in Gradebook will be submitted to Grade Roster for Exam Panel. Once you have submitted the grades to Grade Roster, you cannot further revise or enter grades in Gradebook. The grades kept in Grade Roster will be posted to student records for the announcement of official grades to students.

3. Can I use other grade management tools instead of CUSIS Gradebook?

Yes, you can continue to use other grade management tools, such as WebCT Gradebook, as you considered appropriate. However, you still have to upload/input grades to CUSIS Gradebook and then submit all the grades to Grade Roster at the end of semester for approval. You may export grades from WebCT and upload them to Gradebook.

4. Are assignments marks required for submission of Grade Roster?

The Registry (for undergraduates) and the Graduate School (for postgraduates) will have their own guidelines on submitting assignment marks (or fine marks). Should you have any enquiries, please contact Registry / Graduate School directly.

5. Will uploading of Gradebook be interrupted if invalid information is found during the process?

No. The upload process will continue until all data are processed. The error record will not be uploaded but the correct grade entries before and after the error record will be uploaded into CUSIS. After checking the error messages in the detailed upload result report, you can make the corrections in the original CSV file and upload it again.

6. Can I upload my Gradebook CSV files several times, with grade entries for part of the students in the class each time?

Yes, there is no limit on the number of times for Gradebook upload. In case a new grade record for the same student in the same class is found in subsequent uploads, CUSIS will override the grade entry with the latest uploaded record.
