A major part of the programme is on practical handling of real surgical specimens from busy anatomical pathology laboratories at CUHK, PWH, NDH and NTEC. These practical sessions will involve real life cases for patient diagnosis and management. They will be taught by experienced pathologists, SOs and SMTs in anatomical pathology, in small class of less than a few students. Students can follow the molecular and genomic pathology of the tissues they have sampled, using formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded materials commonly used in anatomical pathology, and from grossing to the actual reporting of the specimens impacting clinical management.
The practical sessions will be supplemented by lectures and tutorials led by pathologists, SOs, surgeons, oncologists and gynaecologists from the public and private sectors.
