2012 Joint Conference of Drug Safety Research Centres
Recognising and Prefenting Adverse Drug Interactions

Over 190 doctors, pharmacists and nurses attended the "2012 Joint Conference of Drug Safety Research Centres" on 21 November 2012 at the Postgraduate Education Centre of the Prince of Wales Hospital.  The Conference was jointly organised by the Drug Safety Research Centres from Faculty of Medicine of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the University of Créteil Paris XII, the University of Helsinki, the Department of Health and the Hospital Authority.  At the Opening Ceremony, Prof. Thomas Y.K. Chan (right 1, front row), Director of Centre for Food and Drug Safety, Faculty of Medicine and Dr. Constance Chan, JP (right 4, front row), the Director of Health delivered the welcome remarks and opening address.  Prof. Hervé Le Louet (right 3, front row), Head of Department of Pharmacovigilance, the University of Créteil Paris XII, France and Prof. Kalle Hoppu (left 3, front row), Associate Professor of Department of Clinical Pharmacology, the University of Helsinki were the keynote speakers.  Other invited guests included Ms. Linda Woo (left 4, front row), Assistant Director (Drug), Department of Health.  The main theme of the 2012 Joint Conference was "Recognising and Preventing Adverse Drug Reactions".  By attending this Conference, the participants would have a better understanding and knowledge of clinically significant adverse drug interactions, drugs requiring special considerations in disease conditions or at the extremes of age and preventive strategies.
