Putonghua 3-4 Week Summer/Winter Programs

P-S1003 3 credits            15hrs/wk

Elementary Putonghua                                            

Fundamental pronunciation in Putonghua through activities such as basic greetings and introducing oneself, asking directions or locations, asking prices, talking about time, making appointments with friends. By the end of the course, students are expected to use Putonghua to solve daily problems in a limited way.

P-S2003 3 credits            15hrs/wk

Communicative Putonghua I  

An Elementary course for students of Putonghua with emphasis on oral and aural proficiency. Students will improve their Putonghua pronunciation and communicative ability in using Putonghua through well designed tasks and familiarization with Pinyin.

P-S2103 3 credits            15hrs/wk

Literacy Class

An Intermediate level course for those who can speak some Putonghua but read little.

P-S3003 3 credits            15hrs/wk

Communicative Putonghua II  

A continuation of P-S2003, building greater proficiency on that foundation at that level.

P-S4003 3 credits            15hrs/wk

Communicative Putonghua III

A tailor-made course based on the shared interests of students who form the class, focusing on improving students' communicative ability in using Putonghua.

 


Cantonese 3-4 Week Summer/Winter Programs

C-S1003 3 credits            15hrs/wk

Elementary Cantonese

Fundamental pronunciation in Cantonese through activities such as basic greetings and introducing oneself, asking directions or locations, asking prices, talking about time, making appointments with friends. By the end of the course, students are expected to use Cantonese to solve daily problems in a limited way.

C-S2003 3 credits            15hrs/wk

Communicative Cantonese I

An Elementary course for students of Cantonese with emphasis on oral and aural proficiency. Students will improve their Cantonese pronunciation and communicative ability in using Cantonese through well-designed tasks.

C-S3003 3 credits            15hrs/wk

Communicative Cantonese II

A continuation of  C-S2003, building greater proficiency on that foundation at that level.

C-S4003 3 credits            15hrs/wk

Communicative Cantonese III

A tailor-made course based on the shared interests of students who form the class, focusing on improving students' communicative ability in using Cantonese.
