Certificate/ Diploma/ Advanced Diploma programs

Applications for admission to the Center may be made at any time in a year. Application documents can be downloaded from the Center's homepage. To allow for admission and (if needed) visa processing, completed application forms should be returned to the Center at least two months prior to the beginning of the term in which a student wishes to commence study.

Visa requirement
Important: Students who come to study in CLC MUST BE either a resident of Hong Kong, working visa and/ or student visa holder. Holder of tourist visa and/or visa exemption status is not allowed to study in any institutions in Hong Kong. So, you must be clear about your visa status and apply for visa prior to your study. Otherwise, both you and the center will be liable for violating the immigration law. Under Hong Kong Special Administrative Region immigration regulations, holders of student visas should not take employment, paid or unpaid. Thus, students who intend to work must obtain a work visa with the sponsorship of their employer and then make arrangements for studying at the Center.

Tourists who enter into Hong Kong with visa exemption status or tourist visa and want to apply for a CLC course MUST change status from tourist to student and this process normally take one month. This status change application can only be done in person by the applicant with the immigration. For student visa application before the student entering into Hong Kong, the application can be done through CLC at a small service charge. To avoid frustration and possible delay in visa processing, students are advised to forward application as early as possible.

Alert! Applicants without a legitimate immigration status for study purpose will not be allowed to attend a class even if they are already in the school and have paid the fee.

Documents needed
Qualified applicant should submit the application form together with
(i) signed regulations;
(ii) copies of current or previous school documents;
(iii) proof of financial standing (overseas students only);
(iv) completed visa application forms - ID(E)936 A, E, K and L(overseas students only).

Payment
Completed application forms must be accompanied with an international money order or cheque for the equivalent of HK$1,600 (US$1 = HK$7.8) made payable to The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Of this amount $400 serves as a non-refundable processing fee. The remaining $1,200 is credited to the student's account after formal registration at the CLC. This deposit serves to reserve a position in the term for which the student wishes to apply and is held by the Center for the entire period a student is studying at the Center as caution money against the privilege of borrowing books from University libraries and tapes from the Center. Refunds will be made upon completion of a student's studies. Should an applicant withdraw after acceptance or fail to register as required for any reason, the deposit will be forfeited. The deposit of a continuing student will not be refunded if the student withdraws without written notice or if the notice does not reach the Center two weeks before the following term begins.
