Durham International Fellowships for Research and Enterprise offered by Durham University, UK

 

Durham University (Durham), UK is inviting applications to the Durham International Fellowships for Research and Enterprise which support research collaborations with Durham academics. The fellowships aim to build international networks of scholars with a common passion for today’s most important research challenges.

 

Details of the Senior Research Fellowships are as follows:

 

TARGET APPLICANTS

(1)  Senior Research Fellowships:

Established researchers for scholarship and research leadership.

 

(2)  Policy and Enterprise Fellowships:

Established researchers for influencing public policy or professional practice, innovation, or practical application of research and scholarship.

 

PROVISION

  • Economy return airfare.
  • Honorarium of GBP3,000 for 3 months.
  • Accommodation.
  • Meals will be provided during term-time.

 

PERIOD

6 weeks to 6 months between Oct 2018–Sep 2019.

Brown International Advanced Research Institutes

 

Brown University (Brown) is inviting applications to the Brown International Advanced Research Institutes (BIARI) to be held during 2-16 June 2018. Successful applicants will be covered the full cost of tuition, air travel, meals, and university housing for the duration of the programme.

 

PROGRAMME DETAILS

BIARI is a two-week residential programme that provides a platform for outstanding early-career scholars and practitioners from around the world to address pressing global issues through high-level intellectual collaborations across traditional academic boundaries.

 

In 2018, BIARI will host three themed-institutes which consist of lectures, seminars and workshops led by distinguished faculty. The three institutes include:

1.  Forced Population Displacements and the Making of the Modern World

2.  Governance and Development in the Age of Globalisation

3.  Social Entrepreneurship within Health and Humanitarian Innovation

 

ELIGIBILITY

  1. Applications are invited from early-career scholars and practitioners working in fields related to the themes of the institutes.
  2.  Applicants from an academic background are usually within seven years of having finished their PhD or professional degree
  3. Practitioners with 4 to 10 years’ experience in their professional field are welcome to apply.

McDonnell International Scholars Academy Scholarship Programme

 

Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL), USA, is inviting applications to the McDonnell International Scholars Academy (McDonnell Academy) for admission in 2018–19. The McDonnell Academy is a scholarship programme for graduates of its partner universities, including CUHK. It aims to attract talented international students for advanced educational experiences, and provides a means for the University to learn more about the global community. Application for the 2018–19 academic year is now open till 15 January 2018 (internal deadline).

 

TERMS OF AWARD

  1. Full tuition for study in a doctoral or master’s degree programme at WUSTL (please refer to the webpage for a list of the programmes).
  2. A 12-month living stipend each year. This stipend is set at US$28,000 for the year beginning 16 August 2018.
  3. A one-time travel allowance of up to US$1,500 for travel to St. Louis.
  4. An annual travel allowance of up to US$2,000 for a trip to the Scholar’s alma mater, i.e. CUHK.

 

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must be graduates of CUHK (either undergraduate or postgraduate) and must be admitted to one of a select group of full-time doctoral or master’s degree programmes at WUSTL.

 

Application to the McDonnell Academy is separate from, and in addition to an application to a doctoral or master’s degree programme at WUSTL. Applicants are advised to observe the different application requirements and deadlines on the individual programme websites.

Applicants are required to submit their applications online with a 1,000-word essay, a letter of recommendation and a short video. 48th St. Gallen Symposium and St. Gallen Wings of Excellence Award

 

The 48th St. Gallen Symposium will be held from 2-4 May 2018 at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, focusing on the topic ‘Beyond the end of work’ to examine the implications of artificial intelligence on the workforce. The St. Gallen Wings of Excellence Award is the world’s most prestigious essay competition of its kind, allowing the extraordinary opportunity to share one’s voice and opinion with some of the world’s most influential leaders and decision makers at the St. Gallen Symposium.

Non-EU Teaching Mobility Program at the University of Vienna 2018-19

 

The University of Vienna, Austria is inviting applications to the Non-EU Teaching Mobility Program 2018-19 which supports short-term teaching visits by faculty members of partner universities outside Europe.

 

PROGRAMME DETAILS

  • The minimum duration of the course is three weeks while the maximum is 90 days.
  • The teaching assignment comprises a blocked course of 30 in-class contact hours.
  • The language of instruction is English.
  • Invited candidates receive a work contract with the University of Vienna for up to 90 days. Travel expenses are reimbursed up to € 2,000 upon providing settled invoices.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Applicants have to get in contact with a faculty member in their specific academic field of the University of Vienna for support.
  • The proposed blocked course should fit into at least one of the degree programs of the University of Vienna and complement existing courses.

Essex International Visiting Fellowships offered by University of Essex, UK

 

The University of Essex (Essex), UK is inviting applications to the Essex International Visiting Fellowships which provide funding support for visits to Essex. The programme aims to provide a platform for international academics to work with Essex academics on a research project or publication.

 

PROVISION

Return economy airfare, self-catering accommodation and a contribution of GBP100 for subsistence per week.

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Open to researchers based outside the UK who have a sustained track record of significant output, as demonstrated in peer-reviewed literature, and a strong commitment to quality research outputs.
  • Applications must be supported by a senior Essex academic.
  • PhD students and post-doctoral students are not eligible for the scheme.

Eurasia-Pacific Uninet Ernst Mach Grant for PhD Students and Post-Docs for 2018-19

 

The Eurasia-Pacific Uninet (EPU) is inviting applications from PhD students and Post-Docs of CUHK for a research scholarship programme for 2018-19. The programme provides support to PhD students and Post-Docs undertaking short-term research attachments at one of the EPU member institutions in Austria. Application will close on 1 April 2018.

 

Terms of Award

  • Duration of visit:  1-9 months for PhD students

                                     1-6 months for Post-Docs

  • Value of award:   €1,050 per month for PhD students

                                    €1,150 per month for Post-Docs

  • The award is meant to cover accident and health insurance, accommodation, visa, daily-life and travel expenditures. Recipients may receive an additional travel subsidy of up to €1,000.
  • Recipients are exempted from tuition fees.
  • The Austrian Agency for International Cooperation in Education and Research will provide logistic support on health insurance as well as accommodation.
