CUHK joins Sino-German Academic Network

CUHK recently joined the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich’s (LMU Munich) China Academic Network (LMU-ChAN) as the first and only Anchor Partner from Hong Kong. This move will propel the University’s joint teaching and research efforts with this leading university in Germany, as well as provide opportunities to engage in multi-lateral partnerships involving other Anchor Partners of LMU-ChAN including Peking University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Zhejiang University.

LMU Munich is a public research university in Germany which is among the top three in the country according to various league tables. As one of the oldest and largest universities in Germany, LMU Munich is made up of 18 Faculties and has been associated with 29 Nobel laureates, including Max Planck, the founder of the quantum theory.

Prof. WONG Suk-ying, Associate Vice-President of CUHK, attended the annual forum of the network held at LMU Munich in October 2017. CUHK had a major presence in the event with a 17-member delegation, comprising researchers from medicine, English, journalism and communication, and geography and resource management. CUHK’s delegates showcased their research strengths, exchanged ideas, explored joint work, and discussed plans to implement collaborations during the forum.
