Previous Group Members 2002-2006

Dr. Timmy Lai-Sheung Choi

Timmy joined the group in Aug 2006 after completing her BSc at CUHK. She carried out research work in the area of amphiphilic dendrons. Timmy is a unique student in a way that I hardly spent time (< 10 hours in total) to supervise her during the whole MPhil study period, yet she managed to get all the work done! She just completed her PhD study at Oxford University, and now works in the Jockey Club of Hong Kong.

Dr. Janice Wing-Sum Cheng

Janice joined us from Baptist University in Aug 2003 after finishing her BSc study. She worked in the area of finding novel methodologies towards the synthesis of dendrimers. She is now working in Hong Kong.

Chin-Ho Cheng

Chin-Ho joined the group as an MPhil student in Aug 2002. His research was focused on the gelation properties of some amino acid derivatives. He is now working in Hong Kong.

Dr. Cat Chui-Man Lo

Cat graduated from CUHK in Aug 2003. Her PhD work was focused on the synthesis and application of catalytic amphiphilic dendrons. She is a fan of the characters in Pokemon, and will quickly align you with one of the species (I don't think that those fluffy toys in the photo are any of those from Pokemon). She is now working as a lecturer at The Open University of Hong Kong.

Wing-Shong Chan

Wing-Shong did his undergraduate study at CUHK and joined us in Aug 2006. His MPhil work was focused on the area of self assembling polydendrimers. He is now working in Hong Kong.

Dr. Grey Siu-Yin Cheung

Grey was in the same year as Cat. He joined the group as a PhD student in Aug 2003 after completing his BSc at CUHK. He worked in the synthesis of metal-containing poly(dendrimer)s. He has a good knowledge of the constellations in the sky. He is last known as a secondary school teacher in Hong Kong.

Dr. Chun-Ho Wong

Nickname as "Ball", Chun-Ho did his undergraduate study at CUHK and joined us in Aug 2004. His MPhil work was focused on the area of self assembling dendrimers. He is now in the final year of PhD study in UIUC. He got married in Jan 2012. His hobby? Surely it has something to do with Ball. Not the big ones through. It is just badminton shuttles. By the way, he looks smarter now as he does not wear glasses anymore, cause he had a laser eye surgery not long ago. Brave guy! Currently Ball is working in a high-tech company in Science Park, Hong Kong

Dr. Terry Kwun-Ngai Lau

Terry obtained his BSc degree from CUHK, he joined the group in Aug 2005. He worked on the supramolecular chemistry of main-chain click polymers. He was 'Big Brother the First" in the group. He is now working in a local hospital nearby and pays visits to us frequently, so make sure you behave in the lab when he is around. He is one of those that will come back frequently to CUHK for tea.

To Luk

To joined us in Aug 2005 after obtaining his MPhil degree from Prof. Tony Shing. He worked in the Synlett China editorial office and also on the synthesis of amphiphilic dendrons.

Yu-Ying Yang

Yu-Ying joined us as a graduate assistant in Feb 2002 . She worked on the synthesis of amphiphiic dendrons.

Those were the years
