At the start of the
new academic year,
I would like to send
my warm greetings
to you all.
New students are
mos t we l come t o
join CUHK! Many of you have participated in different
orientation activities, and I believe you have already
gathered the basic ideas about the University. For the
students coming back from the summer break, I believe
you have enjoyed the long holiday and benefitted
from a variety of summer programmes. Many of these
activities were organised or coordinated by the Office
of Student Affairs (OSA). In the delivery of our diverse
services, we aim to contribute our part in helping
students better enjoy their studies at CUHK.
On top of student activities, a sustainable campus also
supports the development of the university and its
students. This first issue of
University MarketPlace
for
2014
-

carries the theme "From Rocky to Greeny". It
describes how the once rock-strewn landscape now
prides itself on being the reputably greenest campus in
Hong Kong. To create such a sustainable campus, each
individual's effort counts. In this issue, you will learn
some of the efforts that make the campus a greener
one.
Sustainability connects humans and nature. In
University
MarketPlace
, we try to connect with you through words
and images. Yet, an ideal connection should be two-way.
So, do share your thoughts with us and let us stay truly
connected.
I sincerely wish you a fruitful university life on our lovely
campus!
Warmest regards,
Raymond Leung
Director of Student Affairs
