Sustainable CUHK – Every Small Step counts!
O
ur University campus - a barren, rocky wasteland
fifty years ago, now green and verdant - is a
testament to our founders' vision of harmony
between humans and nature. With the same foresight and
dedication, in
2010
, the University published its Campus
Master Plan, a blueprint for the sustainable development of
our campus for the years leading to
2021
and beyond.
The Campus Planning and Sustainability Office (CPSO) has
been set up since
2011
to institutionalize sustainability into
the University operations and more importantly, to induce
behavioural and cultural changes among our staff and students.
CPSO has introduced a series of green policies and
guidelines to instill sustainability into our daily operation
and campus life since then. These include Sustainability
Policy, Green Purchasing Policy and Guidelines, No Shark Fin
Policy as well as Guidelines for Sustainable Event Planning
and Guidelines for Sustainable O'Camp.
A number of campus-wide programmes like Green
Office (GO!) Programme, the 'Love Food Hate Waste
@CUHK - Edu c a t i on Campa i gn and F ood Wa s t e
Reduction & Recycling Programme' and the
2013
Energy
Conservation Plan and Incentive Scheme have also been
launched.
In October
2013
, with the launch of the CU Green Buddies
Scheme under GO!, the University further extends its
engagement efforts to individual students and staff. Over
750
CU Green Buddies have enrolled by May
2014
and
more than half are student participants.

have collaborated with
the Business Office and

Meanwhile, we are always

brought up by students and
happy to render support to our
