Top-notch researchers brought to CUHK for Gordon Research Conferences

In the summer of 2016, CUHK served as the hosting site for six Gordon Research Conferences (GRC) meetings and two Gordon Research Seminars (GRS) during 4 June-22 July. Around 1,000 participants with common research interests were brought to CUHK during the six-week period for intense discussion and examination of frontier research in six topics. Prof. Benjamin Wah, Provost, CUHK, was the co-chair of one of the GRC meetings, ‘Advanced Health Informatics’, which was newly introduced this year. Other meetings held at CUHK included ‘Fibroblast Growth Factors in Development and Disease’, ‘Ocean Biogeochemistry’, ‘Three Dimensional Electron Microscopy’, ‘Single Molecule Approaches to Biology’ and ‘Structural Nanomaterials’. The associated GRSs on ‘Fibroblast Growth Factors in Development and Disease’ and ‘Single Molecule Approaches to Biology’ were also held for graduate students and post-docs.

In 2017, CUHK will serve as the hosting site for four GRC meetings between 11 June and 7 July. Two meetings will be co-chaired by CUHK faculty members respectively, namely ‘Cognitive Dysfunction in Brain Diseases’ by Prof. Linda Lam, Department of Psychiatry; and ‘Quantum Sensing’ by Prof. Renbao Liu, Department of Physics.
