OAL offers events management support for prestigious international conferences

With events management support provided by the Office of Academic Links (OAL), two prestigious international conferences were successfully held in recent months, drawing over 700 delegates from around the world to the campus:

• The 4th Institute of Mathematical Statistics Asia Pacific Rim Meeting (27-30 June 2016): Hosted by the Department of Statistics, the event attracted over 600 academics, field experts and doctoral students from 279 institutions and organisations in 28 countries/regions.

• WMO WWRP 4th International Symposium on Nowcasting and Very-short-range Forecast 2016 (25-29 July 2016): Jointly organised by the Institute of Environment, Energy and Sustainability, the Hong Kong Observatory and the Hong Kong Meteorological Society, the event attracted over 120 experts and participants from around the world.

OAL provided services in a wide range of areas including venues, accommodation, catering, poster exhibition, transportation, website and online registration system, design and production of printing materials, on-site setup and support, and conference memorabilia. The two events also received funding from the Academic and Professional Conference Fund managed by OAL to defray part of their logistical expenses.

The International Events Team at OAL provides events management and consultancy services to assist academic and research units in planning and organising conferences on campus. Academic and research units which have subscribed to the events management service will receive a financial subsidy of 50% of the service fee (capped at $20,000) provided by the Academic and Professional Conference Fund.
