What is Global Community Development Programme?

GCDP is an opportunity for young people to develop a global mindset, entrepreneurial skills and responsible leadership.

In GCDP, a young volunteer will travel across the world to work for projects and NGOs on specific issues (e.g. education,

sustainability, etc.) that aim to create positive impact in that society, and go through a cultural learning experience in the process.

Elly Lam (Brazil, San Carlos, 2013 Summer)

This was like a dream. The journey opened my eyes. It showed me that the world is big and

amazing. I've realized that South America is no longer a just another territory that sold drugs

and is full of illegal activities. I learnt so much from my trip to Brazil. The Brazilians taught

me how to communicate: to be open, to love, and to share. Brazil is now like my motherland.

Miu Wong (Russia, Moscow, 2013 Summer)

There is a saying in Russia that one cannot judge Russia by Moscow, as it is almost like a separate

country in terms of its culture, economy, and people. The longer I stayed in the city, the more I realized how

inadequate my knowledge about the place was. Going on GCDP is the best way to cultivate one's global

mindset as one becomes a part of the country they travelled to, for the rest of their lives. Thanks to my

GCDP experience, I now aspire to be someone who can bring impact wherever I am, and I believe that this

is the most important quality that a world leader should possess-- a belief in the impact that they can bring.
